A Father’s Tears and a Daughter’s Hope: Little Joyce Babirye’s Journey

In the quiet village of Namabaale, Kassanda District., 9-year-old Joyce Babirye woke up one morning with a small discomfort in her right eye. Within days, what started as a simple infection turned into a nightmare. Her eye swelled dramatically, becoming red, painful, and almost completely shut. The once bright and playful girl could no longer play with her friends or even attend school. The pain was unbearable. Her father, a hardworking parent, watched helplessly as his daughter suffered. With no money for hospital treatment and living far from proper medical care, he feared he might lose his daughter forever.“I felt so helpless,” he said with tears in his eyes. “ is my only child. I didn’t know where to turn.”That’s when the Ekyombo Noah’s Ark community stepped in. Through our regular medical outreach program, our team was informed about Joyce’s condition. We quickly mobilized and brought her to the hospital for urgent treatment. The doctors confirmed it was a severe eye infection that needed immediate medical attention.Joyce’s eye was successfully operated by Doctor Dan at Mengo Hospital .Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we covered the hospital bills, medicines, and follow-up care. Today, Joyce is slowly recovering. The dangerous swelling has reduced, and she is beginning to open her eye again. Though the healing is gradual, the light of hope has returned to her face. Recently, Joyce and her father came back to visit our team. With deep gratitude, Joyce’s father held his daughter’s hand and said:“Thank you, Ekyombo Noah’s Ark. You are truly our Noah’s Ark. When we had nowhere to go, you came for us. May God bless everyone who supported my daughter.”Joyce, still shy but smiling, added softly:“Thank you for helping my eye.” This is the power of compassion.Because of kind hearts like yours, children like Joyce are not only receiving treatment — they are regaining their future.Every donation to Ekyombo Noah’s Ark helps us respond faster to medical emergencies, run more health camps, and restore hope to vulnerable children and families in rural Uganda.Together, we can turn pain into healing and tears into smiles.

Women at Luzira Mark Women’s Day with Message of Hope and Renewal (Video)

Women at Luzira Women Prison marked International Women’s Day with a powerful message of hope, resilience, and new beginnings, emphasizing the theme “Right, Justice, Action for All Women.” During the visit, the women engaged in discussions aimed at encouraging unity and personal transformation. The gathering highlighted the importance of breaking barriers and building bridges, reminding participants that rights without action are meaningless. Speakers encouraged the women to claim their dignity, protect their rights through counselling and support, and think beyond prison walls by investing in their future. Throughout the session, the women shared moments of laughter and teamwork, reinforcing the spirit of unity in diversity. Participants also opened up about their personal journeys, sharing stories of struggle, healing, and hope. One of the key reflections during the gathering was that freedom is not only about leaving the prison cell, but also about freedom from fear, shame, and hopelessness. In a powerful symbolic step, the women expressed that they prefer to see themselves not only as inmates of Luzira Women Prison, but as “Ladies With a Purpose,” reflecting their commitment to transformation and rebuilding their lives. The visit also highlighted an important humanitarian concern within the facility. Luzira Women Prison has a maternity ward for expectant mothers and women who give birth while in custody. However, the ward currently faces shortages of essential items needed to support both mothers and newborn babies during and after delivery. Some of the items needed include baby clothes for children born in the facility, milk, basic baby care items, and essential supplies for mothers during and after labour. The women and prison staff therefore appealed to well-wishers, organizations, and members of the community to extend support to help improve the welfare of mothers and their babies. The gathering ended with a strong message to women everywhere: “Mothers, daughters, all women — wherever you stand, rise and embrace your role.” Despite the challenges they face, the women affirmed one central truth: Hope is not lost. Through support, unity, and compassion from the wider community, their journey toward renewal and dignity can continue. 🌿

Celebrating Uganda’s Liberation Day: Freedom, Hope, and Responsibility for the Future

Today, Uganda marks Liberation Day, a historic moment that reminds us of the journey from struggle to freedom, from uncertainty to hope. It is a day to honor the sacrifices made by those who fought for peace, dignity, and a nation where every Ugandan could dream freely. Liberation was not only about ending conflict—it was about restoring hope, unity, and opportunity. As we celebrate this day, we are reminded that true liberation goes beyond political freedom. It includes freeing our children from poverty, hunger, disease, and lack of education. At Ekyombo Noah’s Ark, Liberation Day carries a deeper meaning. We see liberation in a child who can finally go to school, in a sick child who receives medical care, in a vulnerable family empowered to stand on their own feet, and in children with disabilities who are embraced, valued, and given a chance to thrive. However, even after decades of freedom, many Ugandan children—especially orphans and vulnerable families—still face daily struggles. Liberation Day challenges us not only to celebrate, but to act. To ask ourselves: How can we extend the fruits of freedom to those still trapped by hardship? As a nation, our strength lies in compassion, unity, and shared responsibility. When we support education, healthcare, and community empowerment, we continue the spirit of liberation—building a Uganda where no child is left behind. On this Liberation Day, let us recommit ourselves to protecting the future of our nation by caring for its children.🇺🇬 Happy Liberation Day, Uganda!Together, let us keep the flame of hope and freedom alive.

A Small Girl with a Big Dream to Walk Confidently Again (Patricia Nakasagga)

Patricia Nakasagga is only 8 years old, born on 17th December 2017, yet her young life has already carried more pain than most adults will ever know. Patricia was born with only one leg. From the moment she began to understand the world around her, she also learned that she was different. Simple daily activities—walking to school, playing with friends, standing for long periods, or even moving around at home—are a constant struggle for her. While other children run freely, Patricia watches from the side, holding back tears and questions she is too young to fully understand. School has been especially difficult. The long distances and standing in class drain her strength and confidence. At home, routine tasks that should be easy for a child her age requires great effort and courage. Despite all this, Patricia remains quiet, gentle, brave and hopeful. Tragedy struck again in September 2025 which broke Patricia’s life even more, when she lost her beloved mother, Rhona Kamuhisha, during a cesarean section while giving birth. Rhona was the sole breadwinner of the family. She left behind three children, including a newborn baby who is now just 3 months old. With her mother gone, Patricia lost not only her greatest source of love, but also the one person who fought tirelessly for her future. After this heartbreaking loss, Patricia found refuge at an organization called Ekyombo Noah’s Ark, which is currently taking care of her. The organization is doing its best, but medical support of this kind is beyond their limited resources. Yet there is hope. With proper medical support, Patricia can receive an amputated leg (prosthetic) that will allow her to walk with confidence, attend school comfortably, and live a life of dignity. This leg is not just a medical device—it is a chance for Patricia to feel included, independent, and hopeful again. Patricia does not ask for much. She does not ask for toys or luxury. She asks for a leg… so she can walk with dignity and confidence. We are humbly trying to raise £500 to help Patricia receive a prosthetic leg—a life-changing support that will allow her to continue school, regain confidence, and smile again. Your kindness can: Please, let us come together and be the family Patricia needs right now. No amount is too small. Your help can change the direction of her life forever. If you cannot donate, please SHARE.Your share might reach the person who can help.Let us be the reason Patricia believes in tomorrow Help us put a smile on Patricia’s face.Help her stand tall.Help her walk into a brighter future.
